I love oatmeal year round, but with the temperatures cooling down, I especially start to crave warm breakfasts. I wanted to share my favorite oatmeal recipe with you. Besides being delicious, this oatmeal boasts many health benefits! Oats on their own are a great source of fiber, and have been shown to help lower cholesterol and blood pressure. Adding ginger and cinnamon to your oatmeal, will add additional antioxidant effects. Did you know ginger has been shown to aide with nausea and cinnamon has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels? I add an apple for additional fiber and peanut butter for protein and the result is a satisfying and filling breakfast that keeps me full until lunch!
Meal planning tip: Make a large batch ahead of time and store in individual portions in the refrigerator. When you are ready to enjoy, heat up in the microwave and serve!
