If you have been reading my blog you know that I am a big snack advocate! Larabars are a dietitian approved snack that make conquering an afternoon hunger attack easy so I can avoid getting hangry. Larabars never get boring since they come in so many different flavors.
The two best things about Larabars (besides them being delicious) are:
- The nutrition facts label
- The ingredients list
I try to practice what I preach and I always tell clients that snacks should have around 200 calories and at least 3 g protein and 3 g fiber. The nutrition facts panel varies slightly depending on the flavor, but Larabars have about 200-230 calories, 3 g fiber and 6 g protein.
They have a short ingredients list of ALL REAL FOOD! Let’s look at the ingredients in my favorite flavor as an example. In the peanut butter chocolate chip bar there is only dates, peanuts, semi sweet chocolate chips and sea salt. It does not get too much simpler than that!
